There are few things more exciting than finally having braces removed, but don’t forget that you’re now entering the all-important maintenance phase, which requires wearing a retainer. Retainers keep your teeth in the correct alignment after finishing with the comprehensive part of your treatment. Keeping your teeth “retained” is a lifetime pursuit, so if your retainers are lost or broken you should make an appointment to replace them so you can keep smiling it up. Don’t hesitate to schedule an appointment if you have any trouble using your retainer or any questions about this stage of treatment.
A retainer is a custom-made dental appliance that holds teeth in position after braces are removed. At Sunny Smile Orthodontics, there are a variety of retainers available. Contact the office to schedule an appointment to discuss your retainer options with Dr. Condie.
After your braces are removed, Dr. Condie advises you on when and how to wear your retainer. For two years, you continue to have regular check-ups with Dr. Condie, allowing him to see whether your teeth are stable. After you complete the retainer check-ups, continue to wear your retainer as Dr. Condie recommends. That way your teeth stay straight and you can keep that sunny smile!
If you lose or break your retainer, you need to get it replaced. Contact Dr. Condie as soon as possible to get a replacement. And because retainers are made right in his office, your new retainer can be ready in just a few days.
If Dr. Condie wasn’t your Orthodontist, that’s okay. He’s still able to get you a replacement retainer. Simply schedule an appointment for a consultation.
There are a few different types of retainers and the decision about which type to use depends on your individual Orthodontic needs. Sunny Smile Orthodontics offers several types of retainers that are either fixed or removable. Dr. Condie discusses the types of retainers he has available, their pros and cons, and guides you toward the retainer that’s right for you.
As soon as Dr. Condie removes your braces, he’ll take an impression to make the retainer, which can take three to four days. The doctor and his team make all retainers in the office, using innovative and safe techniques and procedures. This makes it especially convenient, especially when retainers are lost or broken. Once the retainer is ready, schedule an appointment to get proper placement.
